Each month, EBSCO runs a wide range of complimentary online training classes across our resources. It does not matter if you are currently subscribed to a resource or just want to learn about a product you are considering, these classes are a fun and interactive way to discover more. Our local training specialists can answer any questions, and recorded sessions can be viewed later or passed on to colleagues.

Freebie Fridays

Take advantage of our Freebie Friday offer to enjoy a 1-hour specialised online workshop with Mandisa Lakheni, Senior Customer Training Specialist. Mandisa will be offering focused sessions on topics not usually covered in complimentary public trainings. Sessions take place at midday on selected Fridays until 30 June 2024. These mini-workshops would normally cost R1,500.00 per person but are free of charge for EBSCO Sub-Saharan Africa customers during this promotion.

EBSCOhost training

These 60-minute overviews of the EBSCOhost interface cover basic and advanced searching techniques including available search modes, Boolean operators, use of limiters and expanders and review of the results page, as well as how to save, cite and print results. These sessions will also cover publication searching and online help/support.

EBSCO eBooks

These sessions are intended for librarians and library patrons using EBSCO eBooks. Topics will include: searching and browsing options, viewing and downloading e-books, and managing personal preferences via the MyEBSCO folder.

These sessions will cover powerful Advanced Search tips you can employ to improve the quality and precision of your EBSCOhost search, including how to employ different search modes, field codes, Boolean operators and search history.

Join in for a full preview of the new EBSCOhost user interface. We will cover improvements in accessibility, full text viewing, sharing and citation tools and the new My Dashboard. We'll also discuss go-live preparation tips and optional customisations available in EBSCO Experience Manager. Bring your questions and we’ll explore together!

EBSCOhost Collection Manager (ECM): Ordering and managing e-books

These sessions provide an overview of the service and a review of the main features, including searching, browsing, and ordering individual e-books and subject sets and collections.

CINAHL

This class is for participants who want to learn to search all versions of CINAHL effectively. Use of subject headings, subheadings, limits, field codes and search history will be covered.
