2025 Calendar Photo Contest

Attention all photographers! Are you ready for a chance to showcase your talent and have your library featured in the 2025 EBSCO calendar?

About the Contest

We are excited to announce that we are holding a contest to collect images for our EBSCO 2025 calendar. We invite you to submit your original photograph of your library to us by the last day of each month until 31 May 2024 for the opportunity to win! We will choose one winner each month and the winning photographer each month will receive a special prize from EBSCO. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to have your institution's library showcased for the world to see. Capture the beauty and uniqueness of your library for the 2025 EBSCO calendar. Contest Terms and Conditions

  • Photographs and a completed entry form must be received by the last day of each month to be eligible for consideration for that month’s draw. One winner will be selected each month and will be notified before the end of the following month by email and requested to confirm details for prize delivery. Winners may also be announced in the monthly newsletter and on our social media platforms by the end of the following month.
  • The contest will close on 31 May 2024. Entries received after the closing date will not be considered.
  • 12 winning photographs will be chosen by a panel of judges; one for each month of the year, according to the criteria set out below. For purposes of the EBSCO 2025 calendar the panel reserves the right to choose photographs for inclusion in the 2025 EBSCO calendar from the entire pool of entries submitted throughout the duration of the contest, whether the entries were selected as a monthly winner or not, and are not restricted to the months in which entries were submitted.
  • The judges’ decision is final, and no discussion or negotiation will be entered into. In the event of a dispute EBSCO will be entitled to deal with any such dispute in their sole discretion. Any failure by a participant to follow the rules of the contest may result in immediate disqualification from the contest at the sole discretion of EBSCO.
  • The contest is open only to registered EBSCO customers based in Sub-Saharan Africa. Amateur and professional photographers are welcome however no distinction between amateur and professional will be made during selection and all entries will be considered together.
  • The contest is open to persons of all ages however any submission by a person under the age of 18 (eighteen) years of age must be signed by their legal guardian to be eligible.
  • A maximum of two (2) photographs may be submitted per person per month, each photograph must be accompanied by a separate completed entry form.
  • Any person submitting an entry to the contest agrees to allow an image of their likeness, name and institution to be published, if selected, as one of the winners in the 2025 EBSCO calendar contest.
  • EBSCO reserves the right to use any submitted photographs in any advertising and/or promotion it deems suitable, including the 2025 EBSCO calendar, advertisements, or on its website or social media channels. Participants will not be entitled to any remuneration for such use and all material arising from such use will be the sole and exclusive property of EBSCO.
  • All photographs must be taken by the person submitting and signing the entry form, and must affirm that the photograph is wholly original and has not been copied in whole or in part, from any other work, and that no other individual or entity has any ownership claim over the image.
  • EBSCO reserves the right to amend these contest rules by bringing it to the attention of it’s members within a reasonable period of time. EBSCO may further terminate this contest at any time, in which case no further submissions will be accepted and all submissions already received will not be entitled to any rights that they may have had in terms of this contest.
  • EBSCO reserves the right to substitute the prize offered for any other prize of a similar commercial value in its sole discretion.

Photograph Requirements

  • All photographs should represent a library of an EBSCO customer based in Sub-Saharan Africa. Winning photographs will demonstrate a strong focus on creativity, uniqueness and quality. Please pay close attention to the photograph requirements listed below. Photographs containing identifiable images of individuals will only be considered if accompanied by a signed waiver from each person identifiable in the photograph consenting to their image being submitted and used in accordance with the terms and conditions of this contest.
  • Digital photography submissions only, via the specified email address, no prints will be accepted.
  • Photographs must be in TIFF or JPEG format and must be between 2MB and 25MB in size.
  • EBSCO reserves the right to colour correct and/or crop photograph entries if it deems necessary.
  • The photographs must not be edited in any manner or contain text or artwork created by the participant.
  • The photograph must not contain content that infringes any third party's copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity, right of privacy, moral rights, and/or any other applicable personal or proprietary rights.
  • All entries must be emailed to [email protected] with the subject “2025 Calendar Photo Competition” together with a completed entry form, no submissions will be considered without a completed and signed entry form.
