How to play

Log in to the EBSCOhost® platform: Remotely with a username and password, on campus or through your institution's proxy server.
Complete the tasks by downloading full-text articles in PDF format from the EBSCO databases. Send the PDFs to [email protected] (you will also see a send button under each question).
Send your contact details using the form provided at the end of this page so that we know who you are and where we can send the prize if you win!

Who can take part in the competition

You can participate in the competition if you are a student or a researcher at an academic or research institution in Latvia, which has access to EBSCO databases under a national license. The winner will be randomly selected from the submitted applications and will be notified by email.

Task # 1: Innovation is An Art Form

In 2019, Time Magazine published Bill Gates' article entitled: "Because innovation is an art form". In the text, the author recalls the figure of a well-known inventor. In an email, send a PDF of this article together with five other articles published in the same issue of Time Magazine, along with the name of this inventor. You will need to submit six PDFs for this task.

Task # 2: Innovation is Business

In Academic Search^™ Complete database, you will find articles published by numerous prestigious publishers. Conduct a technological innovation AND business search in this database. Limit to full-text peer-reviewed articles from academic journals from the last five years, and answer the question by letting us know the names of the three publishers from whom you have found most results on the list. Download two examples of articles for each publisher. You will need to submit six PDFs for this task.

Task # 3: Innovation LV

Innovation changes our lives. It has an impact on many areas of business, technology, economy, education, politics, and private life for each of us. Find articles that show how innovations impact those areas in Latvia. Send us six articles which, in your opinion, are the most interesting. You will need to submit six PDFs for this task.
